Barcode lines, also known as “lipstick lines”, are those fine, unaesthetic vertical wrinkles that appear on the upper lip and, over time, may also extend along the contour of the lower lip. Their development is linked to the constant activity of the orbicularis oris muscle throughout life. These wrinkles are often exacerbated by smoking, as the repetitive motion of the orbicularis muscle accelerates and deepens their formation.

My preferred treatment involves outlining the lip contour with a subtle pencil-like effect, followed by small filler injections directly into the vertical wrinkles. This approach ensures a natural result without weighing down the philtrum, the area just above the upper lip.
