The treatment of crow’s feet is currently one of the main indications for botulinum toxin.
However, there are cases in which the toxin does not completely resolve these wrinkles, often because they have been present for a long time. In such situations, a filler can serve as a complementary treatment, usually performed 15–20 days after botulinum toxin, to improve what is known as the “shadow of the wrinkle” — that is, the residual mark that persists despite the neuromodulation provided by the toxin.

There are also cases in which botulinum toxin cannot be used: for example, in very young patients, in those who refuse the treatment for psychological reasons, or in patients with medical contraindications. In these cases, filler treatment of crow’s feet represents a valid and preferable alternative.
